- Floppy Disk Controller (IWM)

- The Macintosh disk controller incorporates an Apple custom chip called the IWM (Integrated Woz Machine).

- Together with the VIA*, and the Apple Custom Gate Array*, the IWM generates all the signals necessary to read, format, and eject disks.

- The IWM chip can support up to four drives including the Apple HD20 which can be connected to the IWM port.
